Easter 2019

Easter at Belmont

Easter is the most important time of the year for Christians and for Belmont, and we would love to have you join us (and the rest of the year too). We have many events scheduled that you can participate in.  Click here to see the full list of events for this year.  The next couple of upcoming events are also listed on the right side of this page, click on any event listed for more information.

The real meaning of Easter

There is more to Easter than chocolate bunnies and eggs.  It’s a time for us to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. As Christians, we believe that Jesus was crucified on a Friday, where he took on the sins of the world, and rose from the grave three days later on Sunday.  In this way, Jesus paid the price of our sins and allows us to have eternity with him, if we only believe.

If you would like to read the real story of Christ’s death and resurrection from the bible, read Luke 22-24 or click here to read it online.

Why is it on a different date every year?

Easter Moonrise

Easter Moonrise

Jesus’s death and resurrection occurred during the Jewish week of Passover, but the actual date was not recorded.  We as Christians traditionally celebrate Easter in a similar way as the Passover season based on the first day of spring and the historical phases of the moon, though it is not exactly the same as the week of Passover.   This year it will be on April 21st.
